A story told and re-told and re-told and re-told and then eventually written down, translated and re-translated. A story that has been interpreted many times but that i didn’t think could have been re-interpreted in a fresh and new way (i admit that i haven’t watched/read many modern interpretations of this epic though), but i think they did it.

I say it with a bit of doubt because lately i feel like i tend to over analyze everything and i might see politics in things that do not have politics.

In case i’m not wrong, in case Nolan actually wanted to share a political view in his latest movie, contrary to every other movie of his, i gotta say that i like it:

Use a story told many and many times to expose a history repeated for many more and each time forgotten or softened. Odysseus, in the movie, is the winner that regrets his war atrocious actions and wants to be held accountable for and doesn’t want people to sing about them (to be fair, he doesn’t get accused of wrong doing either, like he was in the original story).

A population, the trojans, deceived by a fake peace sign, a “cease-fire-until-i-decide-to-attack-again”, destroyed because of one man’s wishes. And on the other side the achaeans: the ones at war terrorizing populations and making everyone flee their homes, while the ones at home complaining about the people coming in their houses jeopardizing their customs, and scared of the possibility that the conflicts in the south might come to them (conflicts that their own people are causing). 

Interesting.

But i’m probably wrong, and this is just another movie made for entertainment only.
